October 31, 2012 - Happy 5 Month Old Twins - Happy First Halloween!

It is hard to imagine that the twins are five months old today after all they went through to get here.  But today they are five months old and today is their first Halloween.

They both have begun laughing out loud (LOL) which is absolutely adorable.  They are also becoming aware of things around them.  They are both getting so big!

Adam is a very easy going little boy.  He goes along with most things.  He has the most beautiful blue eyes and is definitely going to be a ladykiller!

Kylee is a high-maintenance little girl who run the household and all the adults in it.  She is not shy about letting people know exactly how she feels about anything and everything.

The twins get playtime together every day and are fascinated by each other.  They study each other and watch what the other is doing.  

Adam and Kylee are the cutest little sweet peas I have ever met but then I am extremely prejudice.  We are so lucky and grateful to have them in our lives.

Thank you for all the prayers, love, positive energy, and support you have given Adam and Kylee.  Thank you to all those who continue to follow their progress.  Today is a good day.

October 15, 2012 - Happy 4 1/2 Month Old Twins!

The twins are now four and a half months old and they are getting bigger every day.  They just keep getting cuter and cuter by the day too!

Adam was 7 pounds, 9.5 ounces the end of September and is a chubby little chipmunk.  He is such a sweet boy.  When his face lights up with a smile the whole world seems brighter.  He has been trying to roll over on his own and tries to hold his bottle.

Kylee was 6 pounds 9.5 ounces the end of September and is as adorable as adorable can be.  We are not sure how they manage to stay exactly one pound apart, right down to the half ounce!  Kylee laughs out loud once in a while and it is the most adorable thing you can imagine hearing or seeing.  She is rolling over by herself once in a while.  She is also trying to hold her bottle.

Adam and Kylee attract a crowd wherever they go.  We walked up to Starbucks with them one day and as soon as Emily and Eric walked in the door with them in their stroller, the entire Starbucks went, "Awww!"  It happens everywhere they go!  They are so adorable.  They seem so big to us but they are still really little peanuts.

Their favorite music is Jazz.  They sit and listen to it and sometimes fall asleep to it.  One night they went to bed listening to traditional Hawaiian music.  They have already developed very eclectic tastes!

Two babies is definitely a handful.  It is not one baby times two, it is two babies which is exponentially more everything.  When they are both hungry at the same time and crying, it can get pretty crazy but Emily and Eric have lots of help.

There are no words to express the love and joy Adam and Kylee have brought into our world.  Every day is a new adventure for them, every day is a gift for their family.

Thank you for all of the prayers, love, positive energy, and light that have been sent their way.  It truly helped these little miracles and us through the rough patches on our way to today.  Today is a good day.

September 10, 2012 - Welcome Home Adam!

Today, after 102 days in the Neonatal ICU (NICU), Adam came home and is reunited with Kylee.  It has been a long journey with many bumps along the way, but every second was worth it to see these two beautiful tiny miracles home together.  A new chapter starts now for Mommy, Daddy, Adam and Kylee as they begin their lives together.  No more hospital!

Mommy, Daddy, and Kylee went to pick Adam up from the hospital bright and early this morning.  Adam and Kylee both wore their "Two Peas in a Pod," shirts today.

Very special thanks go to the Sutter Memorial High Risk Pregnancy staff and the NICU staff.  Without your expertise, care, and love, Adam and Kylee would not be home tonight with their Mommy and Daddy.  Each of you do amazing, miraculous work every day and it is greatly appreciated.

To all those parents-to-be and grandparents-to-be who's tiny miracles have decided to come into this world too soon, believe in prayers, believe in love, and believe in miracles.  You are stronger than you ever dreamed you could be and you will get through this.  Keep praying, keep hoping, and keep loving.  You and your miracles will be in our prayers.

Emily said it best, "After 102 days in the NICU, Adam is finally home. It's been the biggest test of our strength we've ever had to go through. They are our miracles and we can't believe how lucky we are. Thank you everyone for the love and support you've given us all."

Thank you to everyone who has been on this journey with Adam and Kylee.  Thank you for the prayers, the love, the kindness, the support, and the positive energy.  Words cannot convey how grateful we are.  Today was a good day!

September 6, 2012 - Happy Fourteen Week Old Twins

We are happy to report that the twins are doing very well.

Adam is getting SO big!  Today Adam went over the 6 pound mark and is now 6 pounds, 1 ounce!  He has the most adorable chubby little cheeks!  If he continues to improve as he has been, he will be home in less than a week.  He is currently on day ninety-eight in the Neonatal ICU (NICU).  Adam is getting so big he has outgrown his preemie clothes and is now wearing newborn-size clothes.    They are a little big on him, but not much!  He is the sweetest little boy and has a smile that can light up a room!

Kylee is doing very well.  She went for her second pediatric checkup today and she aced it.  She is now 5 pounds, 6 ounces.  Everyone who sees her thinks she is a newborn because she is so tiny and are amazed to find out she is over three months old.  Kylee went on her first date with Mommy this week when they went to visit Daddy for lunch at work.  Everyone went crazy over Kylee!  She is the most adorable little sweet pea!

August 30, 2012 - Happy 3 Month Old Twins!

Today, Adam and Kylee turned 13 weeks old!  We cannot believe they are three months old already!  It is hard to imagine life before them.

Adam is still in the hospital but has graduated to the big kid nursery where babies stay before they go home.  Adam has been in the Neonatal ICU (NICU) 91 days.  He is taking all of his feedings by bottle now and is no longer getting any help breathing.  His eye surgery was a success and his eyes are developing normally.  Adam now weighs 5 pounds, 4.8 ounces.  He is a big boy!  He is getting closer and closer to coming home every day.

Kylee is running the household.  She is such a little sweet pea!  She talks all day and talks all night.  We cannot imagine what life will be like when Kylee learns words!  We are guessing Adam's first words will be, "Quiet, Kylee!"  Adam is the quiet one of the two, at least for now...  Kylee lights up a room with her big, beautiful smiles.  She now weighs 4 pounds, 12 ounces.

Mommy and Daddy are exhausted and looking forward to Adam coming home.  They are looking forward to finding out what it is like not to go to the hospital every day.  They cannot imagine what it will be like with two infants at home!

Many have asked how long this blog will continue.  I am going to keep it up for the moment on a weekly basis to keep everyone up-to-date on the twins' progress.  If there is a major event within that timeframe, like Adam coming home, there may be an interim blog.  At some point, it may become a monthly blog.  Wow, imagine the twins' lives so uneventful that we could go a month!  They have come a long way already! August 25, 2012

Today was a good day for the twins.

Adam is recovering beautifully from his eye surgery and tonight had those beautiful eyes open looking all around.  He was just finishing up a bottle feeding when I arrived so I got to hold him for a little bit when he was done.  He is SO much bigger than Kylee!  Adam now weighs 5 pounds, 0.5 ounces!

Kylee is doing wonderful.  She is getting used to the routine at home and is such a little sweet pea - Princess Sweet Pea.  She and Adam have a way of filling your heart with joy just by looking into their eyes.

Thank you for all the prayers, love, kindness, support, and understanding.  We are coming to the final stretch as Adam gets stronger every day.  Today was a good day.
