Today was a difficult day. Adam was diagnosed with E Coli. The infection is in his lungs. It is very scary for someone so tiny to be fighting something so serious. He is a strong little boy though and has been placed on antibiotics which should combat it.
When Eric and Emily visited this afternoon Adam was very lethargic and looked like he didn't feel well. When they returned later and I met them at the hospital, Adam was doing visibly better than earlier. He opened his eyes and looked around, and as usual, he got quite mad when he had a wet diaper which Mommy changed for him. After that, he drifted off to sleep peacefully. He is destating quite a bit right now but continues to pull himself out of it and has a nurse he is sharing with Kylee tonight that is right there with him if his monitors go off. (Have I mentioned how awesome the Sutter Memorial NCIU team is?) In the meantime, Adam is up to 5 ml of Mommy's milk an hour. He is so precious!
Kylee is doing well today. Daddy got to hold her for the first time today skin-to-skin. What a wonderful first Father's Day gift!!! She is up to 4 ml of Mommy's milk an hour and so far tolerating it. Taking a page from her brother's book, Kylee got fussy tonight when her diaper was wet. Daddy was right there to save the day! Eric is already a pro at changing these itsy bitsy diapers. Kylee, however, didn't like it while her diaper was being changed. She cried her little cries and then started coming out with some LOUD cries. Her lungs are definitely getting stronger! As soon as her diaper was changed and Daddy snuggled her back in, she drifted right off to sleep. She is such a sweetheart!
Eric decorated the inside of their incubators above them with bright-colored decals for them to look at. They look so cute!
Thank you for the prayers, love, light, positive energy, and support being sent to Adam, Kylee, and our families. Please continue sending it Adam and Kylee's way. Today was a difficult day, but still, a gift.
