Today was another day on the roller coaster. Adam and Kylee are another day older. While I visited this morning, Adam was doing fine when I got to the nursery and then suddenly his numbers plummeted. It was very scary because they didn't come back up right away like they had been. The nurse rubbed his chest and increased his oxygen and after a couple of minutes his numbers rose and steadied. Apparently, Adam likes to lay on his right side. As soon as his nurse turned him from his left side to his right, he stopped destating. Such is the roller coaster ride of a NICU baby. Adam continues to be a high-maintenance little boy! However, he is just so beautiful he has all the nurses charmed.
Kylee continues to be the star of the nursery. She is doing everything she needs to be doing and most importantly, her numbers are strong and stable. She is such a beautiful, sweet little girl!
Thank you for all the prayers, love, and support. They help so much when the roller coaster car dips. Today was a good day. Today Adam and Kylee are one day older!
Adam Feels the Wire to One of his Monitors |
Kylee Waves in Her Sleep |
I recently learned that when we sleep on our right side, it gives the heart more room to contract, and if you notice, when we get hurt, first thing we do is grab and suffocate the affected area to stop either the air from hitting it, or the throbbing pain. His wanting to lay on the left side, could be a sign of healing, or that it's bothering him. If you ever broke something on your body, the part starts to itch as it's healing. This could be similar. Check his breathing while on his back, vs. when he is on his left side. Can't hurt...
