Today was a very good day for the twins. I visited Adam and Kylee this morning. Since then, Emily and Eric have colds and cannot visit the twins at the moment. To help out, I brought Emily's milk to the nurses this afternoon and gave Adam and Kylee an extra visit because Mommy and Daddy couldn't be there. When I walked into Adam's nursery, boy did I get a surprise!
This morning Adam was continuing to sprint off his bubbler at one and a half hour intervals and when I saw him he was off his bubbler. When I visited at about 3:30 pm this afternoon, Adam was STILL off his bubbler. He has been off since 7:30 am this morning and had one destat all day that he self-recovered from. While I was there this afternoon, Adam's numbers were perfect as he laid there like a super star without his bubbler looking all around. This was very unexpected! Every day I whisper a list to Adam and Kylee of people who love them, starting with Grandma Flo and ending the list with each of them. Today when I told Adam that Kylee loved him, he broke out in a smile! It was SO precious!
Not to be outdone by her brother, little Miss Kylee is doing her usual over-achieving super star things in her nursery. Last night Kylee hit the 3 pound mark! What a big girl! Grandma Flo had to do diaper duty this morning when I visited with Kylee because boy had she been busy! Let's just say... the plumbing is working fine! lol. She looked at me and all around while I changed her. After I got her changed and swaddled her back up she laid there and her eyes started to slowly droop as she drifted off to sleep. The last thing she heard as her eyes closed was me telling her Adam loves her.
Many have asked when the twins will be able to come home and at what weight. There are several factors that play into that milestone. They like to see a weight of approximately 4 pounds but that is just a guideline. At 4 pounds they will graduate to cribs from their incubators. Babies need to be on room air and go 7 straight days without a destat. Kylee has now passed that milestone. They also have to be able to take all of their nourishment from a bottle. Kylee is getting closer every day and without the bubbler, so will Adam. Thinking about these itsy bitsy miracles going home and not taking daily trips to the hospital is incomprehensible at the moment. But we are SO looking forward to that reality!
Thank you for your prayers, love, positive thoughts and energy, and kindness. Today was a very good day.
