Adam Holding Mommy's Finger as She Cradles Him

Adam and Kylee grow more beautiful each day! They were both fussing this morning when Emily and I saw them. They had just undergone tests and were not pleased about the disturbance. Adam had elevated blood pressure and pulse and was flailing around. Emily cradled him and it settled him a little but he was still fussing.  Emily changed his diaper to try to sooth him. (She is far braver than I am - the diapers seem the size of a postage stamp!)  It seems Adam's diaper was wet (you cannot tell by looking at the diaper - they determine volume by weighing the diaper and comparing the weight to a dry one).  As soon as Mommy changed his diaper, Adam's blood pressure and pulse immediately began returning to normal and he settled right down!

Kylee had a couple of slight setbacks last night.  She had some trouble digesting and began looking a little jaundiced.  They discontinued feeding overnight and resumed this morning.  In the meantime, she is spending a little time under UV lighting to help her color.  She has been doing well today and continues to breath on her own.  She is immediately soothed when she hears Mommy's voice.

When Eric and I went to visit them this afternoon, Adam was once again fussy with elevated levels.  Daddy changed his first baby son diaper (again, braver than Grandma!).  Again, after Eric changed his diaper and soothed him, Adam immediately settled down and his levels returned to normal.

Emily was hoping to be released from the hospital today but will have to wait until she gets the staples removed from her incision tomorrow.  This will give her a chance to rest a bit more while being closer to the NICU Nursery.  It is going to be extremely difficult for her when she leaves the hospital without her babies. 

Thank you one and all for the incredible outpouring of love and support.  We are deeply grateful and see the results each day as our little miracles progress.  Today was another day for the good day column!
